Hi,
I would like to have more stems channels. Bass Kick Vocal Hihat Instru are cool, but we producers need more channels, 6 channels are minimum. I have splitted the stem channels into 2 categories:
Drums:
Kick - Perc - Hihat
Idea of the Track:
Bass - Channel1 - Channel2
(Bass - Synth1 - Synth2)
(Bass - Synth - Vocal)
(Bass - ... - ...)
Every channel should have own knob. 2 Midi controllers Xone K2 are the best option - 6 knobs pro deck ...
What do you think about it?

This feature is for Producers only - for people who make own stems files (not VDJ stems files). Original VDJ Stems can stay like BASS KICK VOCAL HIHAT INSTRU ...

Too specialist to be considered for mass production, but nothing stopping you from having a skin that does what you want.

The skin does not support to load a file with 6 stereochannels ...

but you can have a 12 deck skin, a plugin can read a tag and load 5 other decks on load. My remix skin is 10, I've made 18 deck on earlier iterations.
If you want something outside the box, you have to think outside the box.
or you could engineer 2 * 5 stem tracks, 2 decks per side, 10 stereo channels per side

This section is News Features and Wishes and for this Reason I think, that I can write, what I would like to have ...

You can write it, and people can suggest solutions.
Bear in mind though that this is DJ software, not production software - and there are plenty of existing options out there for separating stems beyond what VDJ offers.

VDJ is DJ software and some producers are DJs too!
I dont want to separate something. VDJ has own stems creator for producents already. And I dont think, that 1 more stem channel is something, was costs much time and money to implement it ...

I dont need to separate someting, because I did it already in DAW...

So put together what you can do now, make a stem track with 5 sources, then make another stem track with your other sources, then you just have to make loading one loads the other, and when you press play on deck 1 then deck 3 plays too.
I could do your wish today, it's not hard but it's too niche to be a dev thing, the devs do niche requests but it has to be either a small change or make sense for future development.
If you think it is a future development thing, get it made, if it's popular then it will become native code, if it's not popular then what do you care, you have your bespoke thing anyway.

Now I am using the workaround with 2 stem files for 1 track. It works, but it is no a good solution ...

Even world famous DJ/producer/remixer Francois Kevorkian is using this method to play two sets of four stems at the same time (although he uses Traktor).

Hi
I use Virtual dj as a studio tool & can share or expand my workflow & some templates I created with skin builder as i'm curious to see where this is heading.
Ive been experimenting with using Virtual dj as a software alternative to tape loops or a daw with multi-tracks. As it has the advantage of altering the tempo of individual channels in real time which is not possible in any Daw.
Custom pads can be used to group load , unload master sync . play all , mute ,solo You can colour your stems etc
Eg. illustrating a six deck theme with deck one as the master channel.

PLAY PAUSE command
deck 1 play & deck 2 play & deck 3 play & deck 4 play & deck 5 play & deck 6 play
SOLO OTHER DECKS
deck 2 mute & deck 3 mute & deck 4 mute & deck 5 mute & deck 6 mute
Thoughts.
You need a large display for additional decks (channels) & scalable controller to manipulate them.A hardware controller is not as fluid or flexible as someone will demand more control.
I had a 21 inch touch screen monitor & touch screen midi software. But Virtual dj is touch friendly so you end up in a weird zone where your midi mapping software that's touch friendly.Because you need to keep everything compact.
You need vertical faders for precise control. Or use the custom pads or a plug in as a fader replacement.
I use midi noise gates as a fader less mixer.

You could also route the audio in a mixing desk with a multichannel audio interface. But there has to be an outcome or some content for this workflow.
Chameleon touch screen midi software enables you to cut holes out of the screen like a letter box so you are sharing the same workspace. You have plenty of work spaces to create your controls for different workflows & fluidity. But you need a large monitor which may be unsuitable for live use.
I use a surface pro now as a remote controller.

Here's a guide to touch screen midi software.

some time ago i created a script in python which separates the vdj stem files into 4 audio files to use in a DAW which is used to produce music :P vdj offers a lot of options to improve your workflow, sadly, not everything that we wants is already in the base package but far away is the most advanced and feature filled of all dj software out there.
